Sharks have been the Supreme ocean predators well before the age of the dinosaurs. They have a unique biology including a remarkable sense of smell, Electro-sensitive tracking systems and great cunning. They also exhibit a dazzling burst of speed to capture unsuspecting prey in their massive, powerful jaws. Not surprisingly, they are objects of fear, awe and even worship among seafarers the world over.
The Great whites (Carcharodon carcharias) holds pride of place in the legends of the great sharks - a monster that rushes up unseen and unsuspected from the silent depths to ambush and fatally wound its prey. This film is a world first as it concentrates on the unstudied populations that exist in South Australia's Gulf waters, unlike previous documentaries which have been filmed around sea colonies near Port Lincoln.
Andrei Georgescu, producer/director caught his first bronze whale shark from his local jetty at the age of 14. In the 24 years that followed, he became a commercial fishermen who specialised in the tracking and hunting of sharks. Over time his passion for the shark changed. Now he shoots sharks with a camera instead of a shotgun, bringing a fresh and unique eye to shark documentaries, employing some unusual and dangerous filming and feeding techniques.
Stunning additional cinematography by Dr Errol Harding of submerged shipwrecks, Reef systems and fish species gives a fascinating insight into the food chain and habitat of the Great White sharks that roam in the Gulf waters of South Australia.
This film will stun and amaze you. Critically acclaimed as the most educational, exciting and controversial white shark documentary ever produced. Join Andre georgescu as he takes you face to face with the Great White shark like never before.
